Approach

SBI facilitated the second in a series of stakeholder engagement forums, hosted at the Hong Kong Central Library, building on the first round held the prior year. The forum presented a refined roadmap for openBIM adoption, with practical workflows for preparing and submitting statutory plans. Local and Mainland experts delivered case studies and live demonstrations of current BIM tools to illustrate real-world feasibility. Key discussion topics included funding strategy for SMEs, expansion of training opportunities, and software and hardware readiness ahead of the 2029 mandate. Survey and monitoring efforts were confirmed to continue tracking industry readiness.

"The roadmap has strong industry backing, but continued investment and targeted training will be key to making the approval process smarter, faster, and more resilient."
